The settings that are actually correct
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| IMAP server (incoming) | securemail.a1.net · port 993 · SSL/TLS |
| POP3 alternative | securemail.a1.net · port 995 · SSL/TLS |
| SMTP server (outgoing) | securemail.a1.net · port 587 · STARTTLS |
| Outgoing authentication | Required — same username/password as incoming |
The single most common mistake: SMTP authentication switched off. Receiving works, sending fails — turn authentication on and it sends again.
Other classics
- Attachment limits: A1 allows about 10 MB outgoing and 20 MB incoming. Bigger files: use a share link.
- Mailbox full: A1 webmail starts at 40 MB (expandable to 1 GB) — a full mailbox silently rejects mail. Log into A1 webmail and empty large folders.
- Password unclear? The mailbox password is managed in your A1 account — reset it there, then update it in your mail app on every device.
Still stuck?
Check the webmail first: if mail works at webmail.a1.net but not in your app, the app settings are wrong — exactly what a free remote first look finds in minutes. A1 service line: 0800 664 100.
