First: outage or you?

Do the 5-minute check: mobile data on, Wi-Fi off — if the web loads, the line is the suspect, not the internet. Then check A1’s official status (a1.net support) or call 0800 664 100.

The restart A1 actually recommends

Unplug the A1 modem/router from power, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in — then leave it alone for five minutes. The synchronisation takes that long; judging after 30 seconds produces false alarms. Do this once, properly.

Reading the lights

On most A1 boxes: Power should be steadily on, the DSL/Fiber/Internet light steady after the five minutes. A permanently blinking sync light after a proper restart means line trouble — that is A1’s side, report it. Wi-Fi light on but no internet on any device usually also points to the line.

If only one device is offline

Phone works on Wi-Fi, laptop does not? The line is fine — the device is the patient. Network settings, drivers and forgotten flight-mode switches are remote-fix material (first look free).

Frequently asked questions

How long should I wait after restarting the A1 router?

Five full minutes. The line needs that to resynchronise — judging earlier is the most common false alarm.

The DSL light keeps blinking forever.

After one proper restart, a permanently blinking sync light means a line problem on A1's side — report it (0800 664 100) rather than restarting again.

Internet works but is very slow in some rooms.

That is Wi-Fi coverage, not the A1 line — often fixable with better router placement; see our Wi-Fi setup service.

Can you deal with A1 for me?
